Georgia Metro Dance Theatre, located in Marietta, Ga, commissioned this artwork to promote their annual performance of The Nutcracker ballet. Looking for something whimsical, eye catching, and appealing to families, the directors of the ballet company left the specifics of the artwork open-ended. The final illustration incorporates painterly textures and hand-drawn text to the shape of a Christmas tree, topped with the iconic Clara and her Nutcracker. The promotion extended into posters, ads, t-shirts, and social media. As a former ballet student at GMDT, this project was especially dear to me.
This artwork was created as an entry to the Cooper River Bridge Run design contest for 2018.
